I throughly enjoyed the course. Liz and Jo are both wonderful tutors and presented the information in an engaging way that I found easy to understand and learn from. The venue was very confortable. The caterers provided excellent food and even a pudding each day, which was amazing.
Liz and Jo come with a wealth of up to date experience and knowledge and deliver the content in an engaging and entertaining way. They were approachable, happy to answer questions and offered recaps whenever requested. I was the first in my team to go on the course and due to my positive experience, others will be attending in the future. Many thanks!
What can I say, despite being very anxious about staying away for a week by myself and beginning to learn all things dysphagia, I absolutely loved the course! This was mainly to do with the inspiring and enthusiastic delivery of Jo and Liz – they made us all feel really welcome. They had amazing real life experiences to share, rather than just reverberating information taken from textbooks. They were both very approachable throughout the week asking them questions. There was a good balance between theory behind the ‘normal’ swallow and therapeutic strategies and techniques to guide us with our practice. The venue was fab, and the catering staff were so accommodating! Plenty of refreshments provided as well as fabulous cooked lunches and pudding each day! Thankyou again for a wonderful week 🙂
The Manchester Post Basic Dysphagia Course is incredible. Liz and Jo are fantastic presenters, who have seemingly unlimited knowledge! The course handbook is well put-together, with all of the necessary information for the entire week (and beyond). The content is varied, with lots of interesting case studies throughout. A brilliant week, made better by wonderful new speechie friends and lots of good food provided at lunch time!
I would highly recommend this course and Jo and Liz made it top notch. I went in with minimal knowledge, anxiety about what I was going to be learning and a lot of uncertainties. I’ve come out with confidence in both new knowledge and understanding on how to work as a dysphagia therapist as well as so much empowerment in regards to myself and my job. Yes, the course was intense and at times knackering and I know there is still so much now to follow up with and apply but overall, I feel like I have gained so much from the course and now can’t wait to share with my colleagues. Bonus from the week itself was the great food and the new friendships created and shared experiences spoken about around our lives as SLTs.
Dysphagia is a clinical area where myths and mystique have built up which has unfortunately given some people a negative view about this truly fascinating area of practice. My slight initial trepidation was quickly dispelled by Liz and Jo’s expert teaching throughout the week in conjunction with excellent guest tutors. Liz and Jo’s teaching style inspired confidence; their own relationship was clear to see and facilitated the dynamism of the week’s teaching. The compassion for the families all the tutors worked with and their enthusiasm and interest for their clinical areas was obvious and for me, infectious – I really enjoyed my theoretical week and felt motivated for the next part of my learning journey. I would fully recommend this course to anyone with an interest in Dysphagia.
I really enjoyed this course. The theoretical week was interesting, well paced, dynamic and well run. Liz and Jo were inspirational speakers and I left feeling empowered. The coursework is a lot of hard work, however it has developed my knowledge and confidence greatly. I fully recommend this course.
THIS IS AN EXCELLENT COURSE OFFERING A LOT OF IMPORTANT INFORMATION NECESSARY FOR ALL SLTs. LIZ AND JO ARE THE BEST TUTORS I’VE EVER HAD AND GAVE ME SUCH A SUPPORT TO MY JOB FIELD, MAKING ME FEEL MORE CONFIDENT AND MORE EXPERIENCED. I REALLY FELT SO WELCOME AND RELAXED. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COURSE
I cannot express how fantastic Jo and Liz are. They are both incredibly knowledgeable but also very calm, realistic and reassuring when discussing common (and not so common!) issues that we may face in practice. I found them both very inspiring and they took the time to answer individual questions. The venue was excellent, we were all impressed with the food.
Would highly recommend this course! Jo and Liz were brilliant tutors and really inspiring! The course content was excellent and they added really helpful examples from personal experience. The venue and staff were fab. I attended in June 2021 and felt really safe with the Covid precautions in place. The catering was great with options for gluten free and vegan. Big thanks to Liz and Jo 🙂
