I felt anxious about the course, having been shielding for the week before returning to work. I felt totally comfortable and safe throughout the course. The Lighthouse Venue is large and well ventilated. Masks were worn throughout while moving. It is a shame that the group / interactive practicals were not possible, but this did not take away from the course in my view. I carefully selected the accommodation and chose to drive rather than take public transport. Accommodation allow you to take away breakfast rather than sit in (which is great)/safe too.

I thoroughly enjoyed this course – a lot of effort had been made to keep us socially distanced in light of Covid, so I felt safe attending.
The teaching was very engaging and informative with a good balance between theory and case studies/discussions. The catering was also excellent.

The course has been great to help expand on current knowledge and provided lots of extra detailed information in relation to my client group. Liz and Jo are very engaging and the videos shown during the course were particularly helpful to help visualise what was being taught. Being able to meet other SLTs was also enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this course. It was a very well structured and intensive week. Speakers were very engaging and information delivered encompassed both theory and practice across settings, ie paediatric, multiple cognitive disabilities and adults.

I found that I could relate to the challenges presented and information delivered. It also gave me an opportunity to clarify any queries I had in relation to the challenges I face when working with clients with dysphagia in an acute setting. I also learnt some new information on how I can better document my assessment findings, as well as use compensatory strategies to help manage dysphagia in certain client groups.

It gave me a chance to network with other Speeh and Language Therapists.

This course empowered me to alter how I approach and provide therapy to persons with dysphagia. I recommend it to any Speech and Language Therapist who is keen in developing and furthering their expertise in the area of Dyspahgia.

An absolutely brilliant course that I would recommend to EVERYONE. Jo and Liz managed to make the world of dysphagia a LOT less daunting. Both made us all feel welcome and relaxed. The information presented is pertinent to anyone beginning their dysphagia journey. Their ability to keep us engaged throughout the week was helped by their passion for dysphagia and their absolutely unique encounters and memories with patients. I don’t think I have ever laughed so much during a training course! The week comprised of a good balance of theory, interactive sessions and videos. Jo and Liz were always happy to answer questions, especially those related to the hot topic of this year! The week was a fantastic opportunity to network with many SLTs from all different areas!

Thank you very much to Jo and Liz for informing, entertaining and most importantly, inspiring us.

This course surpassed all my expectations!!I was fearful that the theoretical content would be overwhelming!! No such case- I was able to follow and stay focused as Jo and Liz navigated us through anatomy and case study of complex neonates to adults with such ease. They both demonstrated a wealth of knowledge in theory and research as well as experiences as active clinicians, which made what they had to offer, richer and relatable.
They are both skilled presenters and did an outstanding job with good humour!!
At the end of this course I felt empowered, as I felt I received a robust foundation of knowledge and tools integral to dysphagia assessment and management.

Jo and Liz are both brilliant presenters and teachers. Engaging, passionate and funny – they link quite complex dysphagia theory to every day practice and are on hand to advise and guide you as appropriate. An absolutely brilliant week of training, so in-depth, informative and really fascinating. Great links provided and made with dieticians, OTs and Physio to encourage more holistic thinking about eating and drinking.
