If you are searching for adult dysphagia training, the Manchester Post Basic Dysphagia Course is right for you.
Although not specifically an adult dysphagia training course, the Manchester Post Basic Dysphagia Course is designed to teach core transferable skills across the three client groups (paediatric, adult and adult with learning disabilities (ALD)).
All students attend the same Theoretical Week because much of the core knowledge is common to all three client groups. But after the Theoretical Week, students spend the 6 month Supervisory Period working with the client group (or groups) of their choice. Then, at the end of the 6 month Supervisory Period, students choose which client group they wish to be examined on as there are separate exams for each client group.
Someone who wants to specialize in adult dysphagia can compile their log of hours on an adult caseload only and submit an adult case study and sit the adult exam.
So, although the Manchester Post Basic Dysphagia Course itself isn’t specifically an adult dysphagia course, students can choose to make it specific to adults.
Each course has some students who specialize in paediatrics, some who specialize in adults and some who specialize in adult with learning disabilities (ALD). There is no need to run separate courses for each client group.
“There are so many areas that are transferable from paeds to my work (adults)” … “Even talks that did not directly relate to my line of work were relevant as they covered core transferable skills”
