I stayed at Holiday Inn in Mediacity. I personally liked the location. The service was fine and up to level of choice.
It was a remarkable journey.
I stayed at the Premier Inn West at the Trafford Centre. It was in a really good location – only a 10 minute drive from the course venue and traffic was never an issue. Also, it was only 5 minutes from the Trafford Centre which was good for shopping/evening meals.
I stayed in the Premier Inn North and found it to be well located for the venue. It was conveniently located opposite the Trafford Centre so was excellent for meals in the evening and shopping to keep us occupied. Breakfast at the Premier Inn was good and the staff very friendly.Taxi to the venue was £4.30 and took about 10mins.
I stayed at the Premier Inn West, which is located only 5 minutes from the Trafford Centre. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, roomy and comfortable. I would recommend staying here, it was only a short drive to the venue too.
I stayed at the Premier Inn near the Trafford Centre in November 2013, I was pleasantly surprised with the standard considering how reasonably priced it was! The staff were really friendly and helpful and the food wasn’t bad at all. I was a little concerned when it said that parking was first-come-first-serve basis but I didn’t have trouble getting a space at any point during the week. I didn’t go to the Trafford Centre, but it was just across the road and I know several others on the course really enjoyed going there in the evenings.
It was a short drive to the Lighthouse Centre each morning (about 10 minutes) and although I tended to leave quite early, I never found traffic to be a problem.
I stayed at the Copthorne Hotel in June 2013. I stayed as the hotel included free secure car parking. I drove each day to the lighthouse centre which took about 10/15 minutes. Across the road is a tram stop which can get you directly into town in about 10minutes as well, so really handy for getting into Manchester City Centre. Breakfast was included and lovely, and hotel was full of business people so nice and quiet.
I stayed at the Trafford park Travelodge in November 2013. I agree with other’s comments that despite being the cheapest option I had a very pleasant stay, staff were very helpful, and like all Travelodges it was clean, warm, comfortable and the bed gave me a good night’s sleep. I had a huge family room to myself which was great. It’s just about within walkable distance of the Lighthouse but would take about 50 minutes, walking briskly. Very few people did it! A quick cheap bus service exists from the Premier Inn just down the road, so that is a good option. I was lazy and drove! There are lots of eating places around close by, and in the Trafford Centre, and we were spoilt for choice really. A good choice.
Me and my colleagues stayed at Holiday Inn in MediacityUK.I personally liked the location 🙂 🙂 .. The supermarket Booths was just next door, tram station just 2 min walk, BBC next door, the Lowry outlet mall and theatre at a walkable distance(2-3 min).. Overall a nice place and a very comfortable stay. Everyday we walked to and fro.. It’s around 15 min walk to the lighthouse venue. It was indeed a pleasant and enjoyable walk in the winters 🙂 🙂 .. Truly a memorable one!!
The Light Boutique ApartHotel 20 Church Street, Manchester, M4 1PN. I stayed here with my friend who was also attending the course (we shared a double bed!) in June 2012. it was very central and near to the train. There was a bit of walking involved to get to The Lighthouse (around 15 mins from the train stop) but it was nice to be in Manchester city centre and also to have the self catering option so that we could make breakfast and cook meals in the evening. There was a discount for staying for more than 3 nights as well, so it worked out quite reasonable for us. the apartment is small but is a good option for anyone who prefers to stay more centrally.
I stayed in the Premier Inn North. Thre were a number of people attending the course at this hotel. I asked the hotel how many peole were attending as they had had many requests regarding Transport. The receptionist enquired if those attending the course would like to share taxi’s and arranged this for us. I think there was about 10 of us and it only worked out a few pound each way…
The location of this hotel was brilliant! The trafford shopping centre was just across the road and this kept me eterntained every evening.
The venue for the course was difficult for taxi drivers to find and tehre was another venu called the lighhouse which made it confusing. Be sure to get directions to give to your taxi driver.
Thanks for the tip about the other venue, Bronagh. I’ll alert future attendees to this.
