I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Salford Quays which is only around a 10 minute taxi drive away from the venue. I shared the accommodation with another course attendee which was more cost-effective. Clean, comfortable, spacious rooms, friendly staff and a breathtaking view. Quiet environment and perfect for an evening walk around the area. It is also not far from activities in central Manchester or to discover surrounding areas, which was useful since I attended the course from outside the UK.
I stayed at the Youth Hostel Association in Central Manchester which is great option if you need to save money on accommodation. I would recommend not taking the bus from the hostel to the course as they are unreliable and don’t often turn up. So I would highly recommend getting the tram from Deansgate to Ladywell or MediaCity which is super easy.
I stayed at the Premier Inn Trafford Centre West and would definitely recommend. 5-10 minute walk to the Trafford Centre (plenty of restaurants and shops for Christmas shopping!) and about 15 minutes to the nearest tram stop.
The hotel has a freephone taxi service which can be used to book in advance. A few other course attendees stayed at the hotel so we tended to share Uber rides as this seemed to have better availability than the taxi service. No more than a 10-15 minute drive to the venue.
A taxi from Manchester Piccadilly station cost around £25 for a 20-25 journey.
I stayed at Premier Inn Salford Media City. Room was great. It was a 15 minute walk to the venue, and there’s plenty of food & drink options available around Salford Quays. There’s a Co-op around the corner and a tram stop a couple of minutes walk away.
I recently attended the November course, and stayed at the Premier Inn Trafford Centre West. It was a fab location, right opposite the Trafford Centre which is ideal for shopping and has lots of options of places to get food in the evenings. I took a taxi from Manchester Picadilly train station to and from the hotel which took about 20 mins and cost between £17 and £22 (depending on traffic and taxi service – I would recommend downloading Uber prior to arrival if you are planning on using taxi’s). However, the hotel has a free phone in the lobby which was easy to use and pre-book taxis if needed. I was lucky enough to find some other people on the course staying in the same hotel, so was able to share lifts either by taxi or in their car. The premier inn was a lovely hotel to stay in, very comfortable and warm, and lush showers!
I stayed at the Premier Inn Trafford North. A little tricky for my taxi driver to navigate to – apparently it is known by the local taxi drivers as the Trafford Centre Swinging Bridge Premier Inn! The Premier Inn Trafford North is perhaps one of the smaller ones, more people seemed to stay at the Premier Inn Trafford West (which is about a 5 minute walk away). The hotel was a very short walk from the Trafford Centre itself, which ended up as a central spot for lots of the other course attendees (plenty of shops, food, drinks etc.). It was quick and easy to get to the theoretical week venue by taxi or Uber, although after the first day I did manage to catch a lift with a very friendly therapist staying nearby!
I stayed at the Holiday Inn next to the Trafford Centre. Perfect place to stay, modern, clean, friendly staff and great location being on the side of the Trafford Centre that isn’t as busy, especially during rush hour. Took about 7 mins to drive from my accommodation to the venue and had great parking, which although busy, never had an issue finding a spot. Bonus was the McDonalds directly opposite and the 10 minute walk to both the main part of the Trafford Centre and the ASDA just behind. All in all very pleased with my stay and would happily go back if needed.
I stayed at the Premier Inn Trafford Centre West. A brilliant place to stay. The rooms were large, very clean and close to lots of amenities which was very convenient. The venue is a short drive away (no more than 10 minutes) from the venue, no traffic even at peak time for commuting.
